       Jacob "Jay-One" Roland is a Hip-Hop artist from North Lauderdale, Florida. He is notorious for his versatile flow along with dope soulful lyrics. His father gave him the name "Jay-One" at birth. Jay for "Jacob" and One for "One With God".  Inspired by his father's accomplishments as a percussionist who toured the world with the legendary Temptations, Jay-One immersed himself into music.

      Jay-One began writing songs and recording them on a karaoke machine on to cassette tapes when he was 12. His parents saw how much he loved music so they invested in studio equipment for him to master and enhance his skills. He interned at Power 96 radio station during his freshman year in High School working with Teddy T and Lucy Lopez. Jay-One graduated  high school and later obtained his Bachelors in Media Production. After college, he struggled to find work in his field so he created his own Record Label, Jay91 Records.

     Jay-One brings his life experiences, with a twist of metaphysical psychedelia, taking Hip-Hop into the future. He released his debut mixtape, "My First/Last Breath" after stepping into adulthood and parenthood as a young man. The hardships he had to endure while trying to attend college and provide for his growing family, inspired Jay-One to make songs geared towards social change. 

     He later released his mixtape "Garage Flows", which he made while recording in his parents garage followed by his third mixtape, "One Way". When Jay-One was going through major life changes, experiences, and temptations, he debuted his 4th and most popular cd, "Reinvention Of Self" . The cd featured hit singles "Bad" and "Bak-N-Tha Dayz". "I was going through a transition in my life, growing from a boy to a man", he says. It was then he realized what was most important in life and the examples he wanted to set for his three sons. Jay recently released his highly anticipated CD "Reason2Doubt" with his controversial hit single, "Average" and the smooth "Love Me Down".
